In January, we welcomed Jessica Brucken, our new administrative assistant at CloudCorp. Originally from Seneca, KS, she is not a Concordia native, but she is also not a stranger to the community.
“I have had many members of the community say they recognize me but they can’t place me. That is understandable because with a combined total of five years as a resident of Concordia I have been in many different places within the community. I attended Cloud County Community College and worked for Palmquist Pharmacy until I graduated with an AA in Communications in 2008. I then continued my education at The University of Kansas and after receiving my BFA in 2011 I moved back and was employed through Cloud County Health Center, and The Nazareth Convent and Academy,” Jessica said.
With her new role at CloudCorp, not only will she be tackling administrative duties, but she’ll also be participating in communications and marketing for the business and she’s more than excited to be a part of an upbeat team.
“Like Ashley has said, CloudCorp doesn’t create jobs; CloudCorp connects the dots for future business members. This may not be my home town, but now it is my home, and I want to see small businesses succeed and opportunities to grow,” said Jessica. “I’m excited for this new experience and the challenges that await me for I will be able to learn and grow on a professional and personal level. I am at a time in my life where I am comfortable enough to consider this my career and not just a job I work at.”
An interesting tidbit about Jessica is that she mentioned she has a list of 30 things she wants to do before she turns 30, or what other people call ‘their bucket list’. One of those things was to be a camp counselor which she succeeded in doing roughly two years ago.
“The summer of 2014 I lived in Princeton, New Jersey and was the Health and Safety Coordinator for a camp called iD Tech. Having that kind of responsibility for roughly 130 kids a week for 8 weeks was insane but it was an experience of a lifetime!” exclaimed Jessica. “I have a decent amount of things crossed off my list, for instance: sky diving, donating my plasma, riding on a train, but I’m rounding the corner to 30 and not sure I’ll finish them all.”
In October of last year Jessica moved back to Concordia to raise her new baby girl, Vaida, with her boyfriend Nick Gerard. They welcomed their daughter on October 28th.
“I know I’m biased, but my daughter is the cutest stinkin’ baby I know. She’s already four months old and I find myself torn between wanting her to stay young forever, and then getting excited for all the enjoyable things we’ll get to do together when she gets older. Vaida is by far the best thing I have ever been a part of,” said Jessica.
CloudCorp and the Chamber are pleased to have Jessica's input and collaboration moving forward.
