KDOT names Concordia as a possible site for a freight facility
September 15, 2014
You might have heard last week that Concordia is on the list of potential freight facility loading sites. The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) is looking to put in two transloading facilities across the state. Transloading is the process of moving products from truck to rail or from rail to truck using containers. These facilities make it more cost-effective to engage in export and import activities.
According to a press release from KDOT today, the department is hiring a consultant to help select the most logical locations for a facility. It's a highly desirable facility, and we will be working with regional importers and exporters to make our case.
